presentation overview

Persistent post-surgical pain (PPSP) is a highly prevalent, complex presentation in human medicine. It has huge economic and societal impacts and sees a large number of patients living with poorly managed and poorly explained pain. Our knowledge of this phenomenon in veterinary medicine is limited at best, but the evidence to support its existence is growing. This presentation will aim to update our audience on the current state of knowledge and also provide guidance as to how we can minimise acute perioperative pain, particularly from a surgical perspective, because this hugely impacts PPSP in people.
